Why WordUnscramblerPro is different

Complete results. Many unscramblers cut the list short. We show every word in our 168,352-word list that fits your letters, grouped by length, with a button to expand long groups.

Blank tiles and filters. Add blank tiles with ? or *, then narrow the results by first letters, last letters, letters the word must contain, or exact length.

Two scoring systems. Switch between classic tile values and Words With Friends values. The best-scoring words in each group are highlighted.

Meanings, not just lists. 5,000 everyday words have their own page with WordNet definitions, anagrams, every word hidden inside them and how often the word is used in English.

Frequently asked questions

How do I unscramble letters?
Type your letters in the box at the top of the page. Every word that can be made from those letters appears instantly, grouped by length, with the highest-scoring words first. Use a question mark or an asterisk for a blank tile.
Which word list do you use?
We use ENABLE, a public-domain word list of about 170,000 words that is widely used by word game apps. It is close to, but not exactly the same as, the official tournament dictionaries. See how it works for details.
How are points calculated?
Each word shows the sum of its letter values. You can switch between classic tile values and Words With Friends values. Blank tiles score zero, and board bonuses such as double word squares are not included. See the full letter points table.
Can I use blank tiles?
Yes. Type ? or * for each blank tile, for example RETAIN?. The blank can stand for any letter and scores zero points.
Is this cheating?
It depends on who you are playing with. Many players use an unscrambler to check words after a game, to learn new words, to settle arguments or to practise. If you are playing in a club or with friends, agree on the rules first.
Is it free?
Yes. Every tool on the site is free and works in your browser without an account. The site is supported by ads.
Can I get random words instead?
This site works the other way round: it finds words in letters you already have. If you need fresh words to start from, for Pictionary, charades, writing prompts or vocabulary practice, a random word generator with meanings picks them for you.
